Ingenious Burger Creators in Paris: Because normal snacks and sandwiches not met their taste anymore, Thomas and Quentin tinkered simply new. The two French designers worked unceremoniously their lunch break into a Burger-tinker- happy hour. In the beginning a real challenge in half an hour time only: develop a tasty, delicious burger, idea shopping, cooking and the “art” then also to make it absolutely delicious. Amazing what the likeable guys as quickly conjured from the pinched Cutlets: Burger watches, -crabs, – clouds – fakirs – their imagination jumped about. “At the time we decided to start cooking instead of going out to grab a random sandwich, it was the beginning of winter and we were starving!”, Thomas explained. “We wanted to cook a meal that would stick to our stomach, and the burger stood out as the perfect solution to this craving.” So they just wanted to shoot big fat greasy burgers. What started as a classic foodporn project gradually turned into something else when they decided to surround the burger with crazy and surrealistic setups. Pretty soon they want their images to look mouth-watering but in a crazy way, definitely not the kind of images you usually see on food commercials.
From the fun it moved into a really good business now. We must admit this is no longer the case, we provided more and more interest in offering very aesthetic pictures and our collaboration with restaurants, magazines, or brands made this ritual more and more professional than it was at first. “We usually spend a couple of hours conceptualising and collecting all the accessories. Then it’s about half a day to cook, shoot and start photoshopping,” said Thomas. Absurdity is part of this project since the very beginning. They want their new burger picture challenge to be more and more surprising each week. “Moreover, we like to play with words too. The image has to look great and funny as much as the captions: that’s why we often pick our ingredient list from humoristic puns.”
They released a cookbook last year featuring 60 burger recipes. Link: Das Burger Kochbuch
“Some taste great and some are more… unusual! That why we made a classification of burger at the end of the book to inform the reader of the risk he might take to follow a recipe. It start from ‘Recipes for sensitive palates’ to ‘Recipes for kamikaze livers ‘, Thomas explained.
